In 2015, Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park hosted Rachel's research into how people imagine and navigate unmade environments and the effect of such places on the people who use them. She held photo-animation workshops, invited local people to talk her for a walk in the Park and filmed people who work and play there. From this footage Rachel made a series of flickerscope sequences and showed them at Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park Summer Fair and in situ at Shuffle Festival. Part of this research was to test flickerscope installations as a way of layering moving image into a site. During Shuffle Festival nearly a hundred people per hour cranked the machines. Even Danny Boyle had a go. |
